California sea lions live along the Pacific coast of North America, from southern Canada to Mexico. They can also be seen in populated areas such as the California Peninsula, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. The breeding season is from May to August, and one male lives in a group called a harem, accompanied by many females. Their natural enemies are killer whales and great white sharks. Some individuals in captivity have lived for more than 30 years. Males can weigh up to 300 kg: females only 100 kg.
