Tennoji area is located in the center of Osaka and is famous for all kinds of truly fascinating tourist attractions. Ten-shiba, a wide open space covered with grass, is a perfect spot to spend some leisurely time away from the bustle of our everyday lives. Shinsekai, a neighbourhood with quite some history is one of the areas that make Osaka so famous as a city where you eat “until you drop” as the saying goes – or until your purse runs dry. And Tsutenkaku Tower is the very symbol of Osaka. There are many more places to visit. Such grand commercial establishments offering cutting-edge lifestyles as Abeno Harukas or Abeno Q's Mall are right next to many famous historical places that have barely changed from the ancient times such as Chausuyama or Keitakuen Garden. Please come and bring your family, your friends, that very special person – or simply on your own! Tennoji neighbourhood will feel like a huge theme park with so many places to have fun, relax, and eat something tasty.

Chausuyama
Chausuyama was chosen by Ieyasu Tokugawa as the head-quarters for the winter siege of Osaka Castle (1614), but it is believed that before that it used to be a keyhole-shaped mound, while the Kawazoko Pond is regarded as a remnant of a moat that used to encircle it. In 1986, an archeological excavation found the remains of the buildings, which served as Ieyasu's headquarters, but the conventional theory of a giant 200 meter-long keyhole-shaped mound came to be questioned. However, that landfill erected before the Heian period was found to be very similar to those created with construction methods used in ancient tombs, so there is still a possibility that the tomb theory is right.
Keitakuen
Keitakuen is a garden in a pure Japanese style within Tennoji Park. It is a garden in the rinsen-kaiyushiki style ("strolling garden of woods and springs"), best enjoyed by strolling in a roughly circuit to view every angle. It was bequeathed to the City of Osaka in 1926 by the Sumitomo family, a wealthy merchant family.
The garden was designed and built by Jihei Ogawa VII. Also known as “Ueji”, Jihei Ogawa VII created other renowned gardens, such as Heianjinguushin'en, Murayama Park and Murin’an, all in Kyoto. He is credited with establishing the prevailing style of modern garden landscaping in Japan.
The centerpiece of the garden is a large pond, around which features such as artificial hills, stepping-stones and bridges are placed. In a technique called sawatari, the stepping-stones are placed so as to impart to strollers the vigor of the water rushing beneath their feet.
The pulsing water and other delightful natural elements make this modern, bright and spacious park a delight for the senses.
Tenshiba
Surrounding a large lawn area of about 7000 square meters which can be used for various purposes, all kinds of facilities are open to the visitors including cafes, restaurants, a flower shop, a playground for children (available with admission fee), a comprehensive pet care service, a futsal court, and a convenience store. The space allows visitors discover a whole range of new ways to enjoy the park and the city.
Osaka Municipal Museum of Art
The Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts is composed of a main building that opened in May 1936 and of an underground exhibition room, established in 1992, where public subscription exhibitions of art associations are held. Special exhibitions and collections exhibitions (regular exhibitions) are held in the display room of the main building. The collections exhibitions include works selected among more than 8,000 works such as Japanese or Chinese paintings, sculptures and craft objects, as well as from about 5,000 works kept for shrines, temples and individuals, and they are displayed when necessary. Among these works are countless national treasures and important cultural properties, which is why visitors can enjoy exhibitions of high quality works of art.
Shinsekai Area
Restaurants serving kushikatsu and horumonyaki concentrate in this area, allowing you to relish unique Osaka cuisines. In the observation deck of Tsutenkaku Tower, you can see a pretty statue of "Biriken-san" that is believed to bring good luck.
Area around JR Tennoji Station
In this area, there are various shopping malls such as "Abeno Harukas," "Abeno Q's Mall" and "Tennoji MIO," where you can enjoy shopping of clothes, accessories and other goods at various shops.
