Common Chimpanzee Pan troglodytes
Chimpanzees live in tropical rainforests and live in groups. Each group (typically between 20 and 100 chimps) display unique behaviors, which gives us a window on what the origins of human social culture might have looked like. In the wild, they live by repeatedly joining and separating groups of members. Genetically, chimpanzees are 98.8% identical to humans.
