Japanese Badger Meles anakuma
Japanese badgers are endemic to Japan, inhabiting Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu. It is omnivorous, eating earthworms and insects as well as small mammals, reptiles, and nuts. It is nocturnal, and as its name suggests, it excels at digging holes, resting in the tunnel-like burrows it digs during the day. The burrows are connected underground in complex ways and sometimes have multiple entrances and exits. Their limbs are thick and short, and their forelimbs have strong claws suitable for digging.
