Red Panda Ailurus fulgens styani
Red pandas, also known as lesser pandas, are solitary animals. Living in forests and bamboo groves at altitudes between 1,800 and 4,000 m, they eat bamboo shoots and leaves, as well as small animals, eggs and fruit. They are strong tree climbers and can often be found resting in the branches. When they descend from a tree, they can move forward down the vertical trunk with their heads facing downwards. The name panda is best known for being the giant panda, but it was actually the red panda that was given the name panda first.
