African Savanna
Spotted Hyena Crocuta crocuta
Spotted hyenas may look like dogs, but they are not canines; hyaenidae is a separate family.
They live in groups of 5 to 50 individuals. Females are more dominant than males and protect their territories. Hyenas are often shown stealing prey from other animals, but they are actually good at hunting in groups. They have powerful jaws and can chew and eat even large bones that other animals cannot eat.
