in Reptile House "IFAR"
IFAR (Reptile House) exhibits various kinds of animals
ranging from reptiles to amphibians, fish and invertebrates and shows how each of them is adopted to the living environment in the respective landscape for them.
The name IFAR comes from the initials of "Invertebrates", "Fish", "Amphibious", and "Reptiles", arranged in the evolutionary development.
Staff's Recommendation
You can see many kinds of reptiles such as crocodiles, lizards, and turtles. Seeing an American alligator in the water through the glass is absolutely thrilling.
In addition, in Japan Nature area in IFAR renewed in March 2023 with the support of crowdfunding, you can see the Japanese pond turtle, a near-threatened species, in conditions similar to their natural habitat.
