In the African Savanna Zone, the method of "habitat environment exhibits" is used to recreate the savanna environment that is surrounded by rocky hills called kopje. Walking along the garden path among the rocky hills, you would feel as if you are in the real savanna.
In addition, IFAR (Reptile House) exhibits various kinds of animals ranging from reptiles to birds, amphibians, fish and invertebrates and shows how each of them is adopted to the living environment in the respective landscape for them. There are stables for Amur tigers, Chinese grey wolves and red pandas around the African Savanna Zone.

In this area, you can closely observe various savanna animals such as rhinoceroses and giraffe and live in harmony. In particular, you should not miss the feeding times for hippopotamus, which are just spectacular. Also in the underwater observation area, you can view a dynamic scene of hippopotamus with their big mouths open at a close distance just through a sheet of glass.
